How do I add or import instructors?

Christ in Us Administrators can add instructors individually or by importing. Instructor accounts are necessary before you can set up classes. This article will go through the steps required to create the instructor import file.

Manage Instructor Page


  • Log into Christ in Us as an administrator.
  • Click the menu icon on the screen's top-left corner.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Click Manage Instructors.

Add Individual Instructor

  • Click the Add Instructor button.

  • Fill out the form with the individual instructor information.

Please note, most integrations require the username to be the school email address.

Import Instructors

From the Manage Instructors page, click the import button.

Click the Download Instructor Template link, or you can download the template file here.

The template file is a  Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. A CSV is a plain text file containing a list of data. Use  Excel, Google Docs Spreadsheet, Numbers (mac application), or other similar software to edit the.

Creating the Import File


Most import file columns are required. To avoid errors, do not alter the columns' order or leave out information in a required column. The first two rows are example data.

This required field accepts A and U as valid entries.
  • Enter A to add a new instructor account to the system.  
  • Enter U to update an existing instructor account already in the system.

Username (Required)



Usernames need to be unique within your school's Christ in Us site. The username provided in this column will be what the instructor uses to log in to Christ in Us. If you plan to integrate after importing instructors, please use their school or parish email address in this field.

C Password (Required) A password is required, and instructors can change the password of their accounts. 
D Title (Required) This required field accepts the following entries:
  • Dcn.
  • Dr.
  • Fr.
  • Mr.
  • Mrs.
  • Ms.
  • Rev.
  • Sr.
Please include the period after the title to avoid errors.
E First Name (Required) This is a required field.
F Middle Initial (Optional) This is an optional field.
G Last Name (Required) This is a required field.
H Email address (Required) We recommend using the instructor's school email address if available.
I Role (Required) This required field accepts the following entries:
  • Instructor
  • Catechist
J Status Active/Inactive (Optional) This required field accepts Active and Inactive.
Active enables the instructor account.
Enter inactive to disable an existing instructor account.

Saving the instructor Import File

  • Please remember to remove the example rows before saving your instructor import file. 
  • Save your instructor import file by selecting  "File > Save As..."
  • Set the File Format section of the Save As screen to Comma Separated Values (.csv).

Christ in Us will only import Comma Separated Values (.csv) file formats.  Please be sure to select the correct file format, Comma Separated Values (.csv), when saving your file. 

Uploading the import file

  • Return to the Import Instructors page in Christ in Us.
  • Click the "Choose File" button and find the CSV file you created. 
  • Click the Continue button.

Christ in Us will check the import file for errors. The example below shows the password was left out. Please notice the scroll bar above the columns if you need information on an error. If you receive an error on any rows, they will not import, and you should fix them in the file and upload the new saved CSV.
